Morrison Utility Services is celebrating the recent success of 15 gas contract supervisors in achieving Energy & Utility Skills’ ‘Utility Network Construction Supervisor’ qualification.
In April 2009, Morrison Utility Services was the first utility services provider to offer its employees the qualification with the support of Develop Training.
Now the success of these 15 supervisors, who all work on Morrison Utility Services’ Southern Gas Networks contract in Greenwich, has been recognised with the presentation of their accreditation cards acknowledging their achievement of the qualification.
Morrison Utility Services’ Michael McNamara, the first ever supervisor to successfully complete the course, said:
“The qualification really makes you think about the bigger picture surrounding your particular role and the immediate task in hand. Processes like street works noticing and planning are important to the success of any job and must be done in advance. I think that this qualification reinforced this and enabled me to think about how each of these processes fitted in to the work schedule. It has encouraged me to think one step ahead at all times and boost the productivity of my teams.”
Tim Balcon, Chief Executive, Energy & Utility Skills made a special visit to Greenwich to present the successful supervisors with their cards. He said:
“The Utility Network Construction Supervisor qualification has been initiated, developed and delivered to meet the industry’s specific needs. Supervisory level employees are pivotal to driving improved performance and productivity. I am therefore delighted that Energy & Utility Skills has been able to work with contractor to deliver a qualification that has made and will continue to make a real impact.”
Southern Gas Networks’ Director of Operations, Malcolm Russell, commented:
"The fact that 15 supervisors have obtained this qualification is excellent news. The work that Morrison Utility Services carries out on our behalf can only benefit from the knowledge and the skills that have come through their employees' successful completion of this course."
