Costain win Silver Considerate Constructor Award

The Costain team working on the AMP4 Welsh Water Framework has won a prestigious national accolade for the considerate way that it completed a £1million investment scheme in Colwyn Bay.

The site team won a Silver Award at the Considerate Constructors Scheme 2010 National Site Awards for its work in the Victoria Park area last summer. The Welsh Water scheme involved upsizing two sections of combined sewer and installing associated connections to alleviate the risk of internal flooding to local homes.

The Considerate Constructors Scheme is a national initiative set up to recognise and reward examples of best practice within the construction industry. Just over two percent of more than 7000 eligible UK sites completed during 2009 received the 2010 Considerate Constructor Scheme National Silver Award.

The Costain construction site was particularly commended for its exceptional achievements in the Environment, Neighbour, Respectful and Responsible categories. The judges commended the team on their ‘very high level of compliance in all aspects of the scheme’. They stated ‘It is clear the whole project team have a desire to achieve high standards and have pushed new boundaries’.
