Top quality for A-Plant with accreditation to ISO 9001

A-Plant has received accreditation to the ISO 9001:2008 quality standard, which is the internationally recognised standard for the quality management of businesses. The standard is fully compatible with the management systems A-Plant already has in place (ISO 14001:2004 and OHSAS 18001:2007), allowing the company to have the most robust and integrated safety and quality management system in the industry.

A-Plant is also the first major player in the European hire industry to achieve certification that covers the entire scope of the company’s operations encompassing more than 100 A-Plant service centres, satellite service centres and administration centres.

The importance of this unique achievement has been reflected in the substantial investment in personnel and resources that A-Plant has committed to the project in the current economic climate, a focus that has been rewarded with approval from the world’s most respected standards body, British Standards Institute (BSI), to meet this standard three months ahead of schedule.

A-Plant’s Director for Environment, Health and Safety and Performance Standards, Douglas McLuckie said: “Our approval for certification to ISO 9001:2008 provides us with a unique situation in the international hire industry. Not only does it show we have one of the most intrinsically developed safety and quality management systems in the industry but it provides us with a significant advantage in the marketplace as well as providing us with a certified platform to further enhance our quality systems and current risk management processes.”

This accreditation will assure A-Plant customers that the company’s products and services are regularly subjected to rigorous, independent testing to ensure that they comply with stringent standards for safety, product performance, and reliability. The Kitemark is therefore A-Plant’s commitment towards maintaining the highest possible standards and demonstrates the company’s continued and constant commitment to quality, customers, and a willingness to work towards improving efficiency.

A-Plant has an ongoing commitment to improving quality and health and safety and is also committed to minimising any risk or negative impact the company may have on the environment. The company’s Quality, Environmental, Health and Safety (QEHS) management system is based on the following principles:

  • Prevention of pollution, including waste, fuel emissions and noise
  • Prevention of accidents and occupational ill health
  • Minimisation of energy, material usage and the production of waste
