JCB finance and equipment aids DuBye’s impressive growth

A Scottish Plant Hirer is bucking the trends of the economic recession by demonstrating startling growth and fleet expansion - with its latest purchase being 24 new JCB models including the first 8085 midi excavator sold in the UK.

Despite well documented difficulties in the construction industry, DuBye Ltd, which operates out of state-of-the-art new headquarters in Inverness, has expanded rapidly since it was established 12 months ago - with a multi million pound investment in premises and JCB plant.

In addition to £3 million worth of investment at its existing sites in Elgin, Tomintoul and Turiff, £4 million has been spent at the Inverness site, which at over 45,000ft² is one of the largest of any plant hirer north of the border. Following a huge order for JCB plant in 2009, DuBye has already taken delivery of a further 24 machines from dealer Scot JCB in 2010.

This latest batch of machines includes: one 2CX Airmaster and four 3CX backhoe loaders, fourteen JCB Loadall telescopic handlers, one 8080 midi excavator, one 8055 and the brand new 8085 model. In addition, DuBye has purchased its first ever 20-tonne excavators – two JCB JS220 models – one of which has spent its first two weeks performing groundworks at a Scottish wind farm project.

Managing Director Nick Mellor said: “In the marine and oil sectors – where DuBye has its roots - service is everything. Customers demand immediate response and they expect the best equipment. By transferring these same principles to plant hire, we believe we are giving customers across Scotland an unprecedented offering and bringing an added commercial focus to this sector. Our service is genuinely seven days-a-week and with the massive investment in JCB equipment, we ensure that every customer gets the latest and highest quality products available in the rental sector.

“After identifying the opportunity to break into this market, we quickly secured a deal to supply all plant to Tulloch Homes across Scotland. We already operated a large proportion of JCB equipment, so when Tulloch requested exclusively JCB telehandlers on its sites, we were happy to continue our investment in the brand.”

“The extent of our growth has been made possible by Scot JCB and JCB Finance who have both been amazing. Despite the difficult economic climate, they have given us the package and tools to build the business and acquire the fleet necessary to serve our expanding customer base. The JCB equipment itself has been excellent and the latest 8085 model has been on hire every single day since delivery!”
