Hewden has secured an estimated £500,000 deal with British Waterways to provide equipment for projects across the UK canal network. The five-year contract is due to commence on 1 April 2010.
Hewden has been working successfully with British Waterways for a number of years, but this is the first time the customer has placed a preferred supply deal with a hire company. In particular, the organisation was impressed with Hewden’s approach to health, safety and quality, which includes ISO 9001, 14001 and 18001 accreditations at every depot location in the UK.
As part of the deal, Hewden will be supplying British Waterways with a comprehensive range of modern accommodation, plant, access, power and crane equipment, which is backed by the company’s UK-wide depot network that can provide support 24/7. Further to this, new generation quick hitches, bio oil and trackers will also be made available on request.
Rob Williams, Senior Procurement Manager at British Waterways said: "As we have worked closely with Hewden on previous projects we are reassured by its experience and capabilities in helping us reach our goals over the next five years."
Brian Jones, Hewden Head of Customer Relations said: This five-year partnership with British Waterways reinforces our commitment to partner both environmental agencies and other government departments. We are looking forward to working with the organisation and to providing safe and reliable fleet, backed by nationwide support."
