A-Plant has won a prestigious three year contract to provide power generation equipment for the largest travelling fair in Europe. The company was commissioned by Hull City Council to provide a range of equipment for Hull Fair - a legendary annual event in the region and one of the oldest fairs in the world, having celebrated its seven hundredth anniversary in 1993.
For Hull Fair 2009 which was the first annual event of the three year contract, A-Plant supplied a total of eight 200 kVA generators, two 100 kVA generators, six tower lights, over 60 distribution boxes, cables, 100 heras fence panels, five toilet units and 10 x 3,000 litre bunded fuel tanks. Hull Fair is hosted annually in the second week of October for eight days and is held on a 16-acre site. There are over 250 attractions ranging from children's rides, side stalls, traditional rides and the latest up to date white-knuckle rides.
A-Plant co-ordinated hire equipment from the company’s two Service Centres in Hull and worked closely with Kingstown Works Ltd (KWL) which is owned by Hull City Council and acts as the Council’s principal contractor, strategic partner and specialist sub-contractor. The quality of equipment, technical back-up service over the duration of the event and price were all crucial considerations which influenced A-Plant successfully being awarded the contract for the supply of power generation equipment.
At a debrief meeting following the Hull Fair 2009, Andy Wilson from KWL said: “A-Plant went above and beyond what had been expected and contributed to a great team effort.”
Hull Fair is just one of a host of major events spread right across the country that utilises the equipment and expertise offered by A-Plant. The Great North Run, T in the Park and V Festivals are just a few of the high profile events that A-Plant is involved in, providing generators, accommodation and toilet units, plant and tools and various other types of event hire equipment.
