A-Plant has secured a prestigious sole supply two year rolling contract win with SABIC (Saudi Basic Industries Corporation), one of the world’s fastest-growing petrochemical companies and the most profitable non-oil company in the Middle East. Under the new contract, which is due to start on the 1st January 2010 and is valued at up to £0.8 million per annum, A-Plant will be supplying a range of Plant, Tools and Specialist Equipment in the Wilton and North Tees area.
Although SABIC’s headquarters are based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, its subsidiary company SABIC Europe BV has a petrochemical production site in Wilton, Teesside, to which A-Plant will be supplying equipment. With over 115 locations throughout Great Britain and a strong Service Centre network across the North East, A-Plant - the second largest non-operated plant, tool and equipment hire company in the UK - offered many advantages as a strategic partner to SABIC.
Phil Thorpe-Willett, Sourcing and Contract Manager for SABIC UK Petrochemicals said: “When we started the tender process, we were immediately impressed with A-Plant’s Health and Safety track record, quality and range of equipment, depot coverage and the company’s advances on the IT front.”
A-Plant customers such as SABIC can utilise a wealth of reporting capabilities through the company's Extranet accessed through the website. They can obtain consolidated information for all transactions with A-Plant, regardless of what equipment was hired and which A-Plant location was involved, presenting the information by operating region and by postcode for particular sites. The ability to offer weekly hire reports and consolidated invoices meet the latest requirements for management reporting.
The A-Plant Extranet can also be used to access A-Trak - A-Plant’s state-of-the-art tracking system. Customers can check online 24 hours a day that equipment is being operated as desired and that it is at its intended location. With A-Trak, stolen equipment has been recovered in as little as 15 minutes and it eradicates the high cost and huge inconvenience associated with stolen plant. Nationally, the recovery rate of stolen plant is between 5-10%, but with A-Trak 95% of stolen equipment is recovered.
SABIC manufactures a huge range of products used in clothing, shampoos, detergents, computers, perfume, aerospace components, vehicle parts and many others. SABIC’s products - ranging from speciality chemicals and polymers to fertilizers and metals - help cars run more cleanly, cool people down when they are too hot and keep things from freezing in the cold and ice.
