Birmingham-based Savage Plant Hire is launching a double assault on the recession by updating its fleet of diggers – and investing in a brand new JCB product to generate new business opportunities.
During the past 40 years Savage Plant Hire - which emblazons the Union Flag on all of its machines - has been one of JCB’s most loyal and long-standing customers and has always offered its customers the most up-to-date products.
The Ward End-based company is continuing that tradition by buying five new JCB 3CX backhoe loaders from dealer Gunn JCB.
Now Savage Plant Hire is also breaking into new markets with the launch of a new lighting tower hire initiative and has purchased four new JCB LT9 lighting towers, models which were unveiled to the international construction equipment market in Paris this year.
Paul Savage, Chief Executive, said: “During difficult economic periods it obviously makes sense to introduce new potential revenue streams. We identified an opportunity to supply lighting towers and so when JCB entered the market with a high specification product it was the natural choice as we have faith in the brand and the service from our local dealer Gunn JCB.
“The LT9 design seems simple and robust, the product is powered by a proven engine and the mast mechanism works trouble-free. They are proving extremely popular with highways and airport maintenance contractors and they have also helped us break into the events sector this summer. They make an excellent addition to our fleet.”
The JCB LT9 lighting tower features a nine-metre hydraulically activated, telescopic mast which holds four spotlights - each delivering 1000 watts and 90,000 lumens – giving a total output of 360,000 lumens.
Mounted on an integrated chassis and with compact dimensions, the LT9 is highly transportable - making it ideal for rental fleets. It provides temporary, portable light to a vast range of applications within road construction, rail construction and the events and agricultural sectors.
The LT9 is a fully bunded unit controlled by the JCB KS1 control panel. Powered by a 3 cylinder, water cooled, Yanmar engine and with a 100L tank, it will run, uninterrupted for 68 hours. The unit also features four stabilisers to enable maximum performance on uneven ground. The LT9 is simple and quick to use, with the mast – which is activated via a button on the side of the model - fully erecting in 13 seconds. It can rotate 360° to provide excellent lighting capability to all areas of a site.
With a wealth of experience in the plant hire industry, Savage Plant has become one of the Midlands’ largest and most respected plant hirers. With a predominantly JCB fleet, it offers mini, tracked and wheeled excavators, backhoe loaders, site dumpers, rollers, forklifts and telescopic handlers in addition to the latest lighting towers. All excavator operators are fully qualified and the majority have been part of the Savage team for many years.
Savage Plant Hire’s ethos is all about ‘Customer Care’ and the company offers a 24hr, 7 day a week support service and offer their customers the very latest in plant and equipment with the highest specification. It is a family business where old fashioned values are still a high priority within their company.
