First time Volvo for Beaven Contractors

A good package on offer and a successful demonstration has persuaded Tim Beaven, proprietor of Beaven Contractors of Haslemere to opt for his first Volvo branded excavator.

For Tim Beaven opting for a Volvo EC140C was a departure from his usual choice of excavator, but since taking delivery of his new fourteen tonne machine he has considered it was a good decision. “We had looked at the Volvo brand for a while but it was the combination of a good finance package coupled to a successful demonstration that prompted us to order their fourteen tonne model,” he said. “So far the machine has done everything we’ve asked of it and we’re very satisfied with its performance, smooth control and the comfort in the cab,” he continued.

The Volvo EC140C completes the line up of Volvo’s C series crawler and wheeled excavators all featuring Tier III low emission engines. The installed power of the 4 cylinder engine found on the EC140C is 94hp which contributes to an excellent performance being well matched to the machine’s hydraulics.

The machine’s ‘Integrated work mode control’ provides high efficiency, rapid dig cycles and low fuel consumption. This advanced mode control system ensures the maximum possible hydraulic horsepower available is delivered at a constant engine speed under varying load conditions. In addition, boom and arm geometry provide highly competitive digging forces and lifting capacities, which makes for faster work cycles. Hose rupture valves are fitted as standard to the boom and dipper cylinders as are quick fit hydraulics and a hammer/shear service.

The Volvo Care Cab offers a large roomy interior with plenty of leg room and foot space. The excellent all round visibility is enhanced by pressurized and filtered cab air supplied by a 14 vent, climate control system. An adjustable easy to read LCD colour monitor provides real time information of the machine functions, important diagnostic information and a wide variety of work tool settings. The monitor also doubles as a monitor for the rear view camera.

The new machine will be deployed by Beaven Contractors on building, groundwork and surfacing contracts it undertakes in the Hampshire, Surrey and Sussex area and joins a mixed fleet of mobile plant including dumpers, rollers, backhoe loaders and excavators up to twenty one tonnes in weight.
