VINCI Employee Wins OPERC Prize (01/12/05)
Mr Duncan Summers, an employee at the major contractor Vinci, has recently won OPERC's 'outstanding contribution to plant safety' award for his work on the safe use of cranes in and around airports. The work was produced in association with Loughborough University, BAA, Roger Bullivant, Vinci and Liebherr and it now provides a Code of Practice for anyone who uses cranes on a BAA airport site. Prior to this OPERC prize, the CoP also won the prestigious Chartered Institute of Building's (CIOB's) research papers prize and Loughborough University's best research dissertation prize (presented by the Managing Director of the Kier Group).
As well as being an outstanding student, Duncan was recently promoted within Vinci and we are delighted to have him as an OPERC member. Many congratulations to Duncan for his significant contribution to plant safety and his ongoing contribution to improving UK construction PLC!
Here presenting the prize to Mr Duncan Summers is Mr Mick Norton, OPERC President and Roger Bullivant.
