Didcot Plant Limited continues a long standing relationship with Volvo Construction Equipment as it adds more Volvo EC55B Pro mini excavators to its fleet.
Established in 1967 Didcot Plant has been synonymous with plant hire for over forty years. Since acquiring the Company in 1992 father and son team Fred and Matthew Tarrant have continued to evolve the business, moving to their current, impressive premises in 2001. Volvo and Pel Job branded mini excavators have played an important part in this development. "Our association with key personnel at Volvo dates back to the Pel Job days and during this time a close and trusting relationship has been forged," says managing director Fred Tarrant. "We have always enjoyed an exceptional level of service and support and, most importantly, have always been dealt with in a fair and straight forward manner."
Joining a large and comprehensive hire fleet, ranging (in Matthew Tarrant's words), 'from a sledge hammer to an 8 tonne excavator', come two more Volvo EC55B Pro mini excavators. Didcot Plant offers a range of Volvo excavators from the one and a half tonne EC15B up to the reduced swing radius ECR88 Plus. According to director Tony Newman, the Volvo EC55B scores highly regarding customer acceptance, operator comfort and ease of maintenance. "It ticks all the boxes for us and our customers in terms of overall quality," he says.
The EC55B Pro features a 16-valve, 3.0 cubic litre 37 kW engine providing plenty of power and torque and low fuel consumption. The machine has a large, roomy cab with a flat, uncluttered floor and a fully adjustable seat. Control levers are power-assisted for smooth, precise movements for delicate digging. The cab benefits from tinted windows and air conditioning is standard with five vents for efficient cooling and there is outstanding visibility all around the machine thanks to the large glass area and offset boom.
As with all Volvo construction equipment, the compact excavator line develops impressive levels of performance and technological advances. Examples found on the model range are the variable flow power control hydraulic system for precise control under all load conditions and safety features such as Roll Over Protection Structure (ROPS), Tip Over Protection Structure (TOPS) and Falling Objects protection Structure (FOPS) contribute to outstanding operator safety. The two new EC55B's delivered to Didcot Plant feature a Volvo security key pad option as a deterrent to plant theft.
