At the beginning of December, Enercon, one of the leading pro-ducers of wind power generators, took delivery of two Liebherr LTR 1100 telescopic crawler cranes. Enercon will use their new 100 tonnes capacity cranes for assembly jobs for wind generator installations. A crucial factor in Enercon's decision was the excel-lent operational flexibility, the short erection times and the high lift-ing capacities of the LTR 1100.
For the first job the Enercon team needed less than 2½ hours to assemble the central ballast (2 x 7.5 t), the two crawler beams and the 32 t counterweight of the slewing platform. The LTR 1100 han-dles the complete erection process by itself. Enercon transported the Liebherr telescopic crawler crane, complete with ballast, eco-nomically on only two low-loaders and the machine's transporta-tion width with detached crawler beams is only 3 metres.
