Volvo Construction Equipment Ltd achieves full certification of its management systems

Volvo Construction Equipment Ltd is pleased to announce that it has achieved full certification of its management systems and processes against the ISO9001: 2008, ISO14001: 2004 and BS OHSAS18001: 2007 standards.

Demonstrating its commitment to the Volvo Group Core Values of Quality, Safety and Environmental Care, Volvo Construction Equipment Ltd has successfully achieved certification of its management systems against the ISO9001: 2008, ISO14001: 2004 and BS OHSAS18001: 2007 standards. The business has continuously held ISO9000 accreditation, in its various guises, since 1994 and has recently confirmed compliance with the requirements of the newly released 2008 version of the Quality Management System standard. In addition the Company has added certificates for ISO14001 & OHSAS18001 to its portfolio.

All ten of Volvo CE Ltd's sites have been successfully assessed against the requirements of all three of the standards by Lloyds Register Quality Assurance. These include the Head Office at Duxford, Cambridgeshire, the Machine Preparation Centre at Immingham, and Customer Support Depots located at Duxford, Barnsley, Stirling, Treforest, Birmingham, Warrington, Newcastle upon Tyne, Woking and Adlington.

In achieving the performance required for certification to the ISO14001 and OHSAS18001 standards, the organisation has not only confirmed its compliance with all applicable legislative criteria but also seen improvements in the way it handles hazardous wastes, reductions in reliance on land fill for general waste and a decline in manual handling and cut injuries.

Continual improvement is also a primary element of Health, Safety and Environmental Management at Volvo CE Ltd. and whilst maintaining control in the areas already addressed, programmes for the more efficient use of fuel in company vehicles, reduction in utilities usage and a focus on occupational health are all objectives for 2009. Volvo CE Ltd has a proactive team working on these types of projects bringing together members of staff who have a particular personal interest in such matters. The EnAcT (Environmental Action Team) as it is known is a fundamental part of this ongoing improvement.

Commenting on this achievement, Jonathan Hurley, Volvo CE Ltd's Business Process Development Manager said; "The accreditation of our management systems against these internationally recognised benchmark standards is a major step forward for the organisation and clearly demonstrates our commitment to the ongoing provision of the highest quality service to our customers. This accomplishment will also go a long way to differentiate Volvo from our competitors in the eyes of our customers as they consider their future business partners."
