Kramer loaders prove perfect for a welsh wholesale nursery business
A Welshpool based wholesale nursery recently replaced a pair of Kramer wheeled loaders with another pair of Kramer wheeled loaders, having been so pleased with the performance and reliability of the original machines.
Family owned and run Dingle Nurseries was founded in the 1970s and has grown to become one of the UK's leading suppliers to the landscaping industry and local authorities with a particular emphasis on the provision of a total package, including a fast and flexible delivery service.
About six years ago the 160 acre nursery acquired two Kramer 420 loaders, described by company director Dafydd Joseph as "brilliant machines", which provided sterling service until being up-dated with the purchase of pair of the latest 850 models from new local dealer, Ellis Dawe & Son of Malvern.
According to Mr. Joseph, the key feature of the Kramer design which makes the machine ideal for his operation is its highly stable rigid frame layout combined with both a 4-wheel drive and 4-wheel steer system. "As far as we're concerned the machines act and feel like all-wheel drive forklifts, but with outstanding manoeuvrability and other useful abilities", said Mr. Joseph, "For example, we are able to load and un-load lorries from just one side as the Kramers can reach right across the truck bed, requiring only one curtain to be opened."
Mr. Joseph also likes the quiet running Deutz engine and the superb all-round visibility from the operators seat, a very important factor when the machines are working in the busy dispatch area.
The Kramer 850 model is powered by an oil-cooled, 4-cylinder Deutz diesel engine developing 44 kW (60 hp) @ 2400 rpm which drives through a hydrostatic transmission providing a speed range from 0 to 20 kph. The 4500 kg machine has a lift capacity of 2000 kg and a maximum load-over height of 3250 mm.
