Paul John Group Places Major Order For Doosan Road/Rail Machines
The plant hire division of the Leicestershire based Paul John Group recently placed a £2.5M order for ten Doosan DX160W wheeled excavators modified to road/rail specification by Philmor Rail Services of Usk in Monmouthshire.
Paul John Plant, which was originally established some 15 years ago to provide the plant requirements of the Group, decided to diversify into the rail sector and is now a recognised road rail plant provider.
According to Paul John Plant's managing director Keith Price, "The road/rail fleet represents about a third of our plant holding and rail contracts are currently offering a much more reliable level of business activity which is proving extremely beneficial during these difficult times." Mr. Price continued, "This is an area on which we can focus strategically and the machines we choose are a very important part of the overall package we offer."
The Doosan models were recommended by Philmor Rail Services, one of the UK's leading manufacturers of road/rail maintenance equipment, on the basis of their build quality and excellent level of reliability - an important consideration when working on the UK's rail infrastructure.
All ten machines are based on Doosan's 16 tonne DX160W model and Philmor is converting eight to its Ultimate 220 specification with six as single cab machines and two as twin cab units and the final pair will be built as Ultimate 260, single cab heavy lift models.
