Leiths (Scotland) Limited, the largest independent aggregate producer in Scotland has taken delivery of a further selection of Volvo Construction Equipment products.
The mix of machines includes two thirty six tonne EC360C's; three loading shovels and a twenty five tonne A25E articulated hauler, all of which will be deployed on either the mobile crushing teams or at one of the fifteen quarries operated by Leiths across Scotland. The package represents an increment on the overall mobile plant fleet operated by Leiths of which a high proportion is made up of Volvo branded machines. Reliability, performance and operator preference were the main drivers prompting this latest purchase according to Chairman Ian Leith.
Volvo C series excavators are powered by Volvo Tier III low-emission engines which contribute to an excellent performance and are well matched to the machine's hydraulics providing high efficiency, rapid dig cycles and low fuel consumption. An advanced mode control system ensures the maximum possible hydraulic horsepower available is delivered at a constant engine speed under varying load conditions. In addition, boom and arm geometry provide highly competitive digging forces and lifting capacities, which makes for faster work cycles. Hose rupture valves are fitted as standard to the boom and dipper cylinders as are quick fit hydraulics and a hammer/shear service.
The loading shovels comprising of an L180F, L150F and an L120F also feature Tier III compliant engines, new transmissions and an all-new operator's compartment. With load sensing hydraulics, efficient combustion and first class operator comfort these new models are the most modern up to date general purpose wheeled loaders on the market.
The Leith Group, with its base on the outskirts of Aberdeen employs 500 people and has a turnover approaching £60m. It operates quarries throughout Scotland and produces a wide range of construction materials for use in the building and civil engineering industry.
