An old acquaintance is renewed at Road Equipment Ltd

Road Equipment Ltd of Ashford Middlesex has renewed an acquaintance with Volvo Construction Equipment as it adds eight new compact excavators to its hire fleet.

Although no strangers to Volvo branded mini excavators, having previously operated them in its self drive hire fleet, the recent addition of four ECR48C and four ECR28 models has rekindled a positive relationship between Volvo and Road Equipment Ltd. The new models join a mixed fleet of some one hundred mini excavators, rollers, forklifts and dumpers and were chosen by the Company thanks to a competitive package on offer from Volvo. "It's been some time since we last dealt with Volvo, but the overall package on offer including finance, the specification, operator and our customers' acceptance of the products clinched the deal," commented Road Equipment's Plant Director Andy Cook. "These new models from Volvo certainly look the part in terms of robustness and aesthetics and are proving popular with our customer base," he continued.

All eight machines are zero swing models which Andy Cook believes are becoming the most popular type of machine to hire, especially in the Greater London area where restricted access and restricted working space is the norm. "This is especially so for our typical customers who in the main are working on roads and pavements and landscapers working in small gardens and public areas," says Andy Cook. The three tonne ECR28 and the recently introduced five tonne ECR48C both feature Volvo 3 and 4 cylinder engines developing 18 and 35 hp respectively. Closed centre load sensing hydraulic systems ensure that each of the machine's functions can be performed simultaneously thus maximising the available output from the engine with a high degree of fuel efficiency. Being zero swing machines, the engines are side mounted and provide ease of access to all maintenance and servicing points. Operators' compartments are extremely well proportioned and comfortable providing plenty of leg room even for the tallest operator.

Established by Managing Director Dave Brown in 1993, Road Equipment Hire has grown into a formidable self drive hire company strategically based close to Heathrow, servicing the whole of Greater London and the Home Counties. The Company also benefited from the appointment of Andy Cook as Plant Director in 2006 that brought some twenty years of experience within the hire industry to the business. Besides the investment in eight new Volvo mini excavators, Road Equipment Ltd has also acquired new plant vehicles for their delivery and collection service as it expands its profile as a modern progressive hire company within the industry.

Volvo Construction Equipment Ltd market wheeled loaders, articulated haulers, hydraulic excavators, graders, Volvo Compact Equipment and Volvo road machinery products. Nine strategically placed customer support centres and a network of compact equipment dealers ensure high quality customer support throughout Great Britain.
