Good back up and reliability stemming back many years with Volvo loading shovels has prompted repeat business from J Dickinson & Son (Horwich) Ltd for their waste handling and materials recycling business.
Having operated Volvo loading shovels over a long period of time J Dickinson and Son has extended the scope of its equipment portfolio with the recent addition of a Volvo reduced swing ECR88 Plus compact excavator, a BL71 backhoe loader and the latest EC140C fourteen tonne excavator. The new additions join a Volvo L120F loading shovel delivered at the end of 2007 and were selected primarily on the reliability of the previous products, Volvo's after market support and the prospect of good residual values according to Managing Director James Dickinson.
The new machines have been deployed at different stations around the 17 acre recycling site. The ECR88 Plus is in charge of sorting and loading light commercial and industrial waste onto a bespoke picking line and the larger EC140C loads heavier material such as rubble, soil and demolition waste into screens for separating and picking. Both machines are equipped with rotating selector grabs. The BL71 backhoe loader is deployed as an all rounder on site benefiting from an attachment bracket on the loader as well as the backacter. Thus rigged the machine can load and stock pile material, be used a pallet handler to load and off load wagons and if needs be operate the selector grab usually mounted on the ECR88 Plus.
