More Volvos for Tom Prichard Contracting

The most recent additions to Mr Prichardís fleet include two compact reduced swing excavators

Tom Prichard Contracting Ltd of Llantrisant, South Wales has taken a further selection of Volvo Construction Equipment products for its plant fleet.

The most recent additions to Mr Prichard's fleet include two compact reduced swing excavators - namely an ECR28 and ECR88; two twenty one tonne EC210C's, and EC240C and the recently released C series version of the fourteen tonne EC140. Accompanying the excavator additions the Company has also taken delivery of its first DD24 tandem roller in full Volvo livery. These recent arrivals bring the number of Volvo branded products to fourteen out of a total fleet of 110 items of plant. "We are continuing to invest with Volvo machines for the fleet for two main reasons," comments managing Director Tom Prichard. "Firstly Volvo provides us with a first class support and service back up and secondly, the products and especially the excavators are robust and have proven reliability."

Volvo C series excavators are powered by Volvo Tier III low-emission engines which contribute to an excellent performance and are well matched to the machine's hydraulics providing high efficiency, rapid dig cycles and low fuel consumption. An advanced mode control system ensures the maximum possible hydraulic horsepower available is delivered at a constant engine speed under varying load conditions. In addition, boom and arm geometry provide highly competitive digging forces and lifting capacities, which makes for faster work cycles. Hose rupture valves are fitted as standard to the boom and dipper cylinders as are quick fit hydraulics and a hammer/shear service.

As with all Volvo construction equipment, the compact excavator line develops impressive levels of performance and technological advances. This includes a variable flow power control hydraulic system for precise control under all load conditions and safety features such as Roll Over Protection Structure (ROPS), Tip Over Protection Structure (TOPS) and Falling Objects protection Structure (FOPS) contribute to outstanding operator safety. Specifically for Tom Prichard Contracting, operating the reduced swing ECR28 and ECR88 Plus models is proving to be beneficial when working in confined areas. Both machines offer a high degree of manoeuvrability in confined spaces, particularly near walls and nearby traffic in urban jobsites. The machines are powered by a Volvo low emission engines coupled to a closed centre load sensing hydraulic system for optimum performance of all the machine's functions whilst ensuring maximum fuel efficiency.

Tom Prichard started his business as an agricultural contractor in 1997 when he was eighteen. He diversified into general plant hire in 2001 and his Company became Limited in 2005. Now, with its head office, yard and comprehensive workshops based in Llantrisant, Tom Prichard Contracting Ltd undertakes a whole variety of earthmoving projects throughout South Wales and the south west corner of England. This includes bulk excavations, remediation work and haulage with the Company's fleet of tipper wagons.
