Gracelands Ltd has taken delivery of the first Volvo EC140CL’s
Gracelands Ltd of Highbridge near Eastleigh, one of the largest groundworks contractors on the south coast of England, has taken delivery of the first Volvo EC140CL's to arrive in Great Britain.
In all a total of five of the new C series fourteen tonne excavator have been ordered by Gracelands and join a fleet of forty excavators predominantly made up of Volvo branded machines. "We've chosen the Volvo product once again based on our previous experiences with the machines," commented Plant Manager, Dave Lopez. "We appreciate the build quality, reliability and the after sales support we receive from Volvo's support centre at Woking," he continued. "But not least, the machines have a strong residual value even after four to five years which makes them a very good investment."
Launched at this year's SED the new EC140C completes the line up of Volvo's C series crawler and wheeled excavators all featuring Tier III low emission engines. The installed power of the 4 cylinder engine found on the EC140C is 94hp which contributes to an excellent performance being well matched to the machine's hydraulics. The machine's 'Integrated work mode control' provides high efficiency, rapid dig cycles and low fuel consumption. This advanced mode control system ensures the maximum possible hydraulic horsepower available is delivered at a constant engine speed under varying load conditions. In addition, boom and arm geometry provide highly competitive digging forces and lifting capacities, which makes for faster work cycles. Hose rupture valves are fitted as standard to the boom and dipper cylinders as are quick fit hydraulics and a hammer/shear service.
Operator comfort was another determining factor in choosing Volvo excavators for the Graceland's fleet especially since each machine is allocated to a specific operator. The Volvo Care Cab offers a large roomy interior with plenty of leg room and foot space. The excellent all round visibility is enhanced by pressurized and filtered cab air supplied by a 14 vent, climate control system. An adjustable easy to read LCD colour monitor provides real time information of the machine functions, important diagnostic information and a wide variety of work tool settings. The monitor also doubles as a monitor for the rear view camera.
All five machines will be put to work on the Company's own construction and groundworks projects covering the whole of the south coast. Gracelands Ltd has recently moved into a new facility in Highbridge near Eastleigh.
