GBM Demolition buys from Volvo

Good backup and service prompts more orders from GBM Demolition

Providing an efficient backup and service has prompted GBM Demolition of Louth, Lincolnshire to order two more excavators for its fleet of demolition equipment from Volvo Construction Equipment.

"We need to rely on suppliers who keep to their promises and can provide a fast responsive service when we need it," says GBM's Managing Director Simon Grantham as he takes delivery of two thirty six tonne Volvo EC360C excavators. "That's why we've opted once again for Volvo equipment."

Starting out as a muck shifting contractor in 1988, Simon Grantham's business altered course when the Company was awarded the contract to demolish the old Butlin's holiday camp in Skegness. Since then GBM Demolition has grown significantly covering projects the length and breadth of the UK. The Company took delivery of their first Volvo back in 2000 and with these latest additions the GBM fleet is now predominantly made up of Volvo excavators and loading shovels.

The two new C series machines join a collection of other Volvo excavators including an EC700BLC delivered at the end of 2007 working on a prestigious demolition contract for GBM Demolition - dismantling the British Sugar factory on the outskirts of York. Both EC360C's have been supplied with Volvo's 'secondary demolition' package which includes; a heavy duty FOGS guard protecting the cab; side impact protection rails which are bolted to the superstructure rather than being welded; heavy duty 10mm thick belly plates; boom and bucket cylinder protection; double thickness door panels; slew ring protection and micro mesh screen keeping fine particles away from the cooling system to ensure maximum engine performance. Other standard features include a hammer/shear hydraulic circuit; quick fit hydraulics and hose rupture valves to the boom cylinders.

The EC360C series excavator is powered by Volvo Tier III low-emission, 12 litre engine developing 250 nett h.p. The engine is well matched to the machine's hydraulic system providing excellent performance, high efficiency and rapid hydraulic cycles with low fuel consumption. An advanced mode control system ensures the maximum possible hydraulic horsepower available is delivered at a constant engine speed under varying load conditions. Having a relatively fast hydraulic cycle time is another reason why GBM Demolition chose the Volvo product especially when equipped with a hydraulic shear states Simon Grantham.

GBM Demolition Ltd undertakes all manner of demolition and dismantling contracts throughout the UK including safe disposal of all materials including asbestos. The Company is a member of the NFDC (National Federation of Demolition Contractors).
