A.G. Plant Hire Ltd add two new Volvo A25E articulated haulers to its fleet
A.G. Plant Hire Ltd of Cellarhead, Stoke on Trent has added two new Volvo A25E articulated haulers to its fleet and will be the first hire company in Great Britain to take delivery of a brace of the new ECR145C reduced tail swing radius excavators - just being launched onto the market.
Founded in May 2000, proprietor Andy Gimbert has developed his business from hiring forklifts for site work into a full line provider of construction equipment products for hire. Specialising predominantly in hiring machines for railway maintenance contracts Mr Gimbert has over one hundred pieces of mobile plant ranging from excavators from 1½tonnes up to 22 tonnes; telehandlers, backhoe loaders, dozers, tractors and other ancillary equipment. However it wasn't until two years ago that A.G. Plant Hire started considering Volvo Construction Equipment products for its fleet and since then Mr Gimbert has invested in Volvo articulated haulers and excavators.
Two brand new Volvo A25E articulated haulers have just been added to his fleet and were selected thanks to the performance and reliability of two existing C models along with the prospect of high residual values. Equipped with a Volvo 9-litre turbo-charged high-performance low emission diesel engine developing 305 net hp, the A25E develops high torque at low engine speed. This is an important feature when starting from a standstill, making the hauler easy to manoeuvre in difficult terrain. The machine has all-wheel drive and 100% differential-locks, giving the operator many driving options. The hauler can go practically anywhere, economically and efficiently. The entire drivetrain - engine, transmission, dropbox and axles - is made up of Volvo components.
The dump body has a load capacity of 24000kg with a 15cu.m heaped SAE 2:1 volume and is constructed with 400HB steel throughout providing both high yield and tensile strength. A unique feature is the patented Volvo Load and Dump Brake. When the hauler is in position for loading or dumping, the operator presses a button to automatically apply the brakes and place the transmission in neutral. This improves safety and minimizes wear on the brakes and drivetrain. Once loading or dumping has been completed, the operator selects a gear and the Load and Dump Brake is disengaged.
Besides the new A25E haulers, Andy Gimbert will be the first plant hirer to take delivery of two of Volvo's recently introduced ECR145C reduced swing excavators. Weighing in at 15.1 tonnes the ECR145C is an all new design of excavator from the Volvo stable setting new standards in the industry for lifting capacity and stability. Powered by a Volvo 4 cylinder tier III compliant engine developing 94 nett h.p, the ECR145C boasts a generous 1750kg lifting capacity at full reach across carriage, a maximum reach of 8.85m and a dig depth of 6.0m. The round shape of the cab is also designed to stay within the rear swing radius yet still provides a roomy and comfortable environment for the operator. Ingress and egress to the cab is made even easier thanks to a sliding door. Both machines will be delivered with dozer blades and specially prepared rubber blocks for the tracks and will be in high demand on permanent way railway maintenance contracts.
A.G Plant Hire Ltd offers both self drive and operated hire and covers the whole of the U.K. Mr Gimbert's new A25E's have been supplied with Volvo's Blue Customer Support Agreements. Under this arrangement the trucks will be serviced by qualified Volvo service engineers including regular inspections, oil sampling and analysis and comprehensive, proactive reports to maximise productivity and enhance their residual value.
