AH Plant Hire invest with Volvo

AH Plant Hire makes a significant investment with Volvo compact equipment

Situated just off the busy A55 at Alltami near Mold, AH Plant Hire completes a phase of significant investment with the addition of seventeen Volvo compact excavators.

Managing Director Andrew Heaton has continued to develop and expand his hire business throughout the north west of England and north Wales, with 2007 seeing a substantial investment in both his property and park of equipment. Having built a new administration block and acquiring additional land adjacent to AH Plant’s headquarters the company has increased its fleet of Volvo compact excavators with an additional seventeen machines.

In all, twelve reduced swing ECR58 Plus’, two EC25’s and three EC15BXT’s have swelled AH Plant’s fleet to a total of 40 Volvos in the hire fleet. “We were one of the first in the north-west to find a niche in the hire market for the Volvo EC55 five and a half tonne model,” comments Andrew Heaton. “They can easily load eight wheelers from level ground as well as handle hard digging applications when needed. Now with the reduced swing ECR58 Plus we can continue to offer our customers a quality product with the same digging performance coupled to the benefits of operating a reduced swing machine giving even more flexibility on site.”

The new Volvo ECR58 PLUS offers high manoeuvrability in confined spaces, particularly near walls and nearby traffic in urban jobsites. The machine is powered by a Volvo 3.1 litre low emission engine producing 51 net hp coupled to a closed centre load sensing hydraulic system for optimum performance of all the machine’s functions whilst ensuring maximum fuel efficiency. The machine demonstrates an impressive lifting capacity across carriage of 460kg at maximum reach together with a generous breakout force of 3900daN. Automatic two speed travel is a feature on the ECR58 Plus enabling the machine to shift from high travel speed into low according to the load and terrain.

All seventeen machines have undergone local modifications by AH Plant’s engineers with the addition of hydraulic quick hitches and vandal guards before embarking on an anticipated four year term in the hire fleet. “One of the key reasons why we continue to invest in Volvo compact equipment is the first class after sales support we receive from Seddons and indeed from Volvo themselves,” continues Mr Heaton.

AH Plant Hire is ideally situated just off the A55 North Wales express way close to Queensferry. The business is supported by two plant delivery vehicles, a complement of four engineers and an administrator.
