New A-plant Campaign Aims To Enhance Safety Levels For Working At Height

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) will be running a new campaign in February and March 2008 on slips, trips and falls in the workplace called the ‘Shattered Lives’ campaign. In support of this programme and, with particular emphasis on enhancing safety levels for working at height, A-Plant has introduced a new initiative entitled ‘Be Safe, Be Competent, Choose A-Plant.’ In the company’s new campaign, A-Plant is aiming to raise awareness of the risks involved in working at height and the actions that should be taken to minimise the dangers of slips, trips and falls in the workplace, as part of a very strong, ongoing commitment to improving Health and Safety standards across all industries.

The A-Plant ‘Be Safe, Be Competent, Choose A-Plant’ campaign promotes the importance of competency when working at height. The company recognises that competency is measured by the experience, knowledge and appropriate qualifications that enable a worker to identify the risks arising from a situation and the measures that need to be taken to work safely. With this campaign, A-Plant is highlighting the fact that undertaking a work at height activity requires training in the selected system of work and with any particular work equipment chosen.

A-Plant offers solutions for many types of work at height with the company’s vast range of Powered Access equipment and training services available. In the markets it serves, A-Plant is looking to create very active support for the HSE ‘Shattered Lives’ campaign by producing a number of items, including a detailed booklet, posters, and an informative section on the A-Plant website at The company is also offering a 10% discount on all PASMA Access Safety Training courses to support the HSE ‘Shattered Lives’ campaign.

All these activities are designed to raise awareness of the risk of slips, trips and falls and the actions that should be taken to minimise these risks.
