ECR88 grabs Weaver Demolition’s attention

Weaver Demolition Ltd purchase the Volvo ECR88 Plus

Bristol based Weaver Demolition Ltd was originally established in 1968 as a plant hire and demolition concern by Mike Weaver’s father. Operating fifteen machines of various makes and sizes and employing around twenty personnel, the company now concentrates its core activities around demolition contracts and is a member of the NFDC. Weaver Demolition already operate a Volvo L90 C loading shovel and recently purchased a second hand forty six tonne EC460BLC with three piece demolition rig. “We needed a smaller machine with a reduced tail swing for our contracts where it’s difficult for larger machines to gain access,” explained Mr Weaver. “After evaluating the market we chose the Volvo ECR88 Plus because in our opinion it has a superior build quality and strength in the front equipment for demolition duties. We were also impressed with the willingness of Jim Prior and his team at Plant & Engineering Services to help us with the specification of the machine and sourcing the rubber blocks for the tracks,” he continued.

The new Volvo ECR88 PLUS offers high manoeuvrability in confined spaces, particularly near walls and nearby traffic in urban jobsites. Increasing the versatility of the machine supplied to Weaver Demolition, the ECR88 PLUS has been fitted equipped with an additional rotation circuit to allow a shear and rotating grapple to be used as well as fixed grapple and buckets along with an optional quick attachment bracket. The generally high specification of the ECR88 Plus including standard options such as air conditioning, refuelling pump and tinted glass was another contributing factor to Mike Weaver’s decision to purchase. The ECR88 PLUS is powered by a Volvo 3.4 litre low emission engine producing 57 net hp and delivers an impressive lifting capacity and performance, along with superb stability from a heavier standard counterweight. The machine has been fitted with rubber blocks bolted to steel tracks to minimise damage to freshly laid surfaces on sites.

The ECR88 Plus has been supplied to Weaver Demolition by Volvo’s compact equipment dealer for the West Country – Plant & Engineering Services Ltd, of Beare, near Exeter.
