Leading hire company A-Plant has hosted a family-friendly competition to produce this year's Christmas cards for the company's customers. The firm invited children related to A-Plant employees to enter the A-Plant Christmas Card Design Competition 2007, with the winning design being featured on the cover of A-Plant's Christmas cards.
v A-Plant, which hires out plant, tools and other construction equipment to customers nationwide, was inundated with designed entries from sons, daughters, nephews, nieces, grandchildren and other relatives related to A-Plant's 2,000+ employees. An independent panel chose a design hand-drawn by 12-year old Amelia Dickinson, Daughter of A-Plant Mobile Fitter from the company's depot in Rotherham.
As part of a prize for producing the winning entry, Amelia was invited to A-Plant's printers with her parents to see her winning design brought to life on the printing presses. The card has been printed in its thousands and has been sent to each of A-Plant's 200 depots for dispatch to customers and suppliers. For her efforts, Amelia was also rewarded with £200 of vouchers that can be spent at stores including JJB, Game, Argos, Woolworths, Comet and Halfords.
A-Plant's Marketing Director Asif Latief said: "At A-Plant we have an ongoing commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and we're delighted that we've been able to involve children related to our employees in this type of initiative. The competition has created a phenomenal amount of interest and the level of detail that has gone into the entries is truly exceptional."
The design competition forms part of A-Plant's CSR efforts to forge closer links with the company's employees and local communities. A-Plant, which forms part of FTSE-250 company Ashtead Group plc, this year won the Hire Company of the Year (over five outlets) Award from the Hire Association Europe (HAE), the leading trade association for hire and rental companies in the UK and Ireland.
